Organization at a glance
Jamalpur DPOD is a Disabled Peoples Organization (DPO) working in Jamalpur district of Bangladesh. The organization was established in 2003 Being started involving 300 persons with disabilities with support from “PSID” development approach initiated by Bangladesh Protibondhi Kalyan Somity (BPKS), end of the project authority of Jamalpur DPOD handover to local persons with disabilities. Now the organization has total 900 members; among them male 400 and female 500 The organization implements its activities ensuring equal participation of men and women with disabilities. According the bylaws of the organization there are 21 members in its General Committee and 7 members are in the Executive Committee. The organizational activities are implemented by the staff and volunteers following the directives of the General Secretary/ Executive Director. Through the direct involvement of the men and women with disabilities, the organization is working to promote rights of persons with disabilities and improving their lives with supports from government and non-government organizations. Besides, the organization is striving for partnership with the mainstreaming organizations for Disability Inclusion in their programs through ensuring active and meaningful participation of persons with disabilities as well as providing capacity building and technical assistance.
